Pictured below is a special edition of De Groene Amsterdammer, designed by Jan van Keulen and signed by artist Leen (LJ) Jordaan.
De Groene Amsterdammer was founded in 1877 and is one of the oldest Dutch news magazines still in existence. In its early days green ink was used, later causing the word groene (green) to be added to the name: De Groene Amsterdammer. During the German occupation between 1940 and 1945 the magazine temporarily ceased publication but came back swinging and jabbing with these images by anti-Nazi artist Jordaan, who looks back at the occupation in thirty lithographic cartoons.
